Coaching
Do you know a high potential executive who is experiencing one of the following common dilemmas?
- Since taking a new position, she is not achieving the success she is accustomed to.
- He is experiencing friction with a co-worker and/or boss.
- She isn’t finding the job as personally rewarding as it used to be.
- He is having trouble balancing all the demands on his time.
- Her team is not performing effectively.
If so, I can help. As an executive coach, I have the tools and techniques to help a high potential leader get back on track. Many individuals and corporations find that the payback of hiring an executive coach is in the increased productivity, commitment and enthusiasm of the coached client. Even in economically challenged times, it is foolish not to invest in your most important asset – your leaders.
Kristin’s coaching clients get results!
One director-level client was having friction in his relationship with his boss, and had received several “does not meet expectations” ratings on the last performance review. Through coaching, this person was able to turn his performance around in only six months and received the “thumbs up” from his boss at their next performance conversation. Another client was new to her position and needed guidance on how to work better with her manager and other peer managers. After only five months, this person achieved the president’s award for outstanding service and received an informal “thank you” award from another group that works closely together. Still another client was able to start her own business and is now actively adding customers to her growing clientele. Yet another coaching client reports that her migraine headaches are gone since the third month of our coaching together!
In each of these cases, Kristin helped the clients discover their mental roadblocks, what created them in their childhood years and how to either get around or re-pave the roadblocks. It’s an inner job for the client, but the coach is there to help and guide the talented individual through the process.
What is coaching?
Executive coaching is a relationship that can help people realize their potential and reach their goals - in their careers, their businesses or organizations. An executive coach is like having an invisible business partner who is only concerned with the client’s success! It is a private, confidential relationship where the coach is there to give feedback, guidance and unconditional support.
An executive coaching program might consist of the following elements:
- The coach administers personal assessments, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and/or assessments of the client’s emotional intelligence, strengths and leadership development
- The coach conducts a 360o assessment that involves interviews of the client’s manager, peers and reportees to gather data and feedback on current perceptions
- The client commits to daily writing or journaling to record successes and examine his/her interior dialogue
- The coach guides the client through a life retrospective exercise to help identify patterns and mental roadblocks that keep the individual from achieving their dreams
- Several clearing methods that clear the roadblocks
- A development plan at three months
- A summary report at six months

The ROI of Coaching
Several organizations were surveyed to assess the return on investment (ROI) of coaching, with the results outlined below:
- A Baruch College research project found that a training program alone increased productivity 28 percent, but the addition of follow-up coaching to the training increased productivity 88 percent.
- A Manchester Consulting Group study of Fortune 100 executives found that coaching programs returned an almost six-fold return.
- An International Personnel Management Association survey highlighted an 88 percent increase in productivity when coaching complimented training (compared to a 22 percent increase with training alone).
- A study of a Fortune 500 telecommunications company by MetrixGlobal found a 529 percent ROI in executive coaching.
- Salespeople who participated in Metropolitan Life Insurance Company’s intensive coaching program reported an average 35 percent increase in productivity. MetLife reported that they invested about $620,000 in the program, but realized $3.2 million in measurable gains.
