I learned about mindfulness meditation from a book called Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat Zinn. Perhaps some of you know about that book?

Elizabeth and Mariel,
Thanks so much for your comments. We can have such a good discussion here!

I learned to meditate about twenty years ago, and have developed my own style through reading, learning from others and doing. I do not consider myself an expert meditator, but perhaps my efforts can give others courage on their journey.

One of my spiritual teachers told me to just believe whatever I hear or receive in meditation. Several years later, I finally decided to do just that. Now I just accept whatever message I receive in my meditations. If you believe that you are a part of God/Infinite Intelligence, then how can you not believe what you receive in meditation? Even if it is your voice that you hear, that voice is of God. As "A Course in Miracles" teaches us, God is incomplete without you.

I've also learned to trust the first message I receive. If I second guess the message, I discard it. There are times when I am too emotional to receive trustworthy messages. So I say to myself, oh well. I will come back to it another day.

Blessings,
Kristin

I hope I am better at cleaning my heart than I am at cleaning my house. I loved the imagery, including the vacuum and the power washer. I suspect I will have to use both. Thank you so much for this wonderful gift. It is amazing how much lighter one feels, how much brighter love burns, and how beautiful the universe is when I can let go of hurts and fear. Thank you again for wisdom that I'm sure will be helpful to me. I really love your blog.

Wow, Kristin, that is a powerful story. Does white marble hold any personal significance for you? Many of the world's most precious pieces of art (e.g., The David--did you ever read Chris Widener's book titled The Angel Inside?) were carved from white marble...perhaps you are allowing yourself to be a masterpiece, now that you have cleansed the dark feelings from your heart.

And now, I have several questions about your meditation technique. First, how long did it take you to do all that work? Second, how long have you been working/practicing to be able to do such meditation? Third (and most importantly, I think), how do you keep your mind from wandering or second-guessing itself?

I ask these questions because I want to learn to do what you did. How would you suggest that a novice like me could get started with such healing meditations?

As always, I ask for blessings to come to you, and to all those you have forgiven.
