Mindful Leadership: Using Mindfulness Practices to Increase your Leadership Effectiveness 
  • The research is in, and it is conclusive!  Mindfulness practices, such a breath work, sensory awareness and journaling, help you to achieve better health, greater happiness, reduced emotional reactivity, stronger mental capacities and improved leadership capabilities. A regular cadence of mindfulness practices changes the structure of your brain, because repetitious thought patterns get etched into your neural pathways. This is another way to say, “In the brain, what fires together, wires together.”  In this interactive and experiential presentation, we will explore the neuroscience that supports a consistent practice of mindfulness.  And, you'll learn several exercises to try in each of five areas of mindfulness practice.

​​"Lean In" Isn't Enough: Unconscious Bias and What to Do About It
  • The days of the TV show “Mad Men”, which describes the sexist office culture of Madison Avenue in the 1960’s, are over – or are they?  Today, unconscious gender bias is pervasive and embedded in the systems, structures and cultures of most of our organizations.  Researchers call this second generation gender bias, and it operates unseen, beneath the consciousness of both men and women. 
     
    In this presentation, we’ll explore what unconscious bias is and its negative consequences for companies.  Most importantly, we’ll talk about how the “Lean In” advice, which urges women to conform to the existing norms workplace, is a good start but isn’t enough.  Instead, women must build on our own leadership strengths, be heard and work with our organizations to change the systems that are unfriendly to our characteristics.  Come to this presentation to learn how!
